Last week I had a papercut commission from a lovely lady I met earlier in the year on my yoga holiday on Silver Island. This is one of her favourite quotes...

Made In London
My latest papercut commission was this giraffe and elephant for a little baby boy (his heritage is cheekily explained in the speech bubbles!)

Birthday Season
My friends have started turning thirty this year... eeekk! Gold leaf seems only right for such an important occasion...

Cut!
A couple of papercut commissions from the past week - a wedding heart and a new christening design that I was really pleased with...

I Love You Because...
This is a papercut I've just finished - some lyrics from the lovely and romantic Leon Payne song "I Love You Because", commissioned as a wedding present...

Happy Congratulations
A couple of cards I made for friends last week, using some lovely patterned papers I bought the other day - total bargain from the cheap and cheerful Tiger...

Black Beauty
Just thought I'd share this painting I did recently (well, as a Christmas present so not really that recent any more)...

A to Z

I'm on a paper cutting mission at the moment, having realised it's one of my favourite things to do creatively. So, I made a big alphabet for our wall at home, and am now doing a series of smaller pictures to sell in my online shop (hopefully done and on sale in the next few weeks).
Oh, and I thought I was very clever in realising that the H and the I in the alphabet would be next to each other and could make a nice message picked out in gold leaf, then found out by doing a Google images search that plenty of other people have already realised the very same thing (although executed differently)!!

Papercut

My sister's boyfriend commissioned this papercut for her 30th birthday last month. It's some of the lyrics to one of her favourite Joni Mitchell songs - A Case Of You - painted with blackboard paint and mounted on some nice textured rag paper. I really enjoy doing these papercuts, even if my fingers don't thank me for the intense grip they're forced to endure!

Pantone Table
You've probably seen all the Pantone merchandise around - mugs, chairs, storage tins etc. - and I'm sure everyone's over it, but not me, so I decided the other day to paint our Ikea coffee table as a Pantone chip. The colour reference isn't accurate, which I suppose in a way defeats the object, but I think that's ok.

Flying The Flag Part II
I moved flat a few months ago, and in the redecorating and furnishing process ended up with a LOT of union jacks in the living room/kitchen (on cushions & breakfast bar stools). And when juxtaposed with Penguin mugs and paintings, a Keep Calm and Carry On poster, and some fridge magnets of traditional British products (Marmite, Colman's mustard, HP sauce etc.), it was all suddenly looking a bit, well, patriotic. So, when we needed a new cushion on the sofa, I decided to throw a bit of the US of A in to the mix to take the emphasis off Britain! And here it is (liberties have been taken with the layout, but its an approximation)...

Hair Slide How To
My most recent DIY project for the wonderful Small magazine blog is up (and in fact has been up for a while, I've been somewhat lax) here.

Birds and Bees
My - slightly belated - July craft project for Small magazine is up on their blog now. It's a little cardboard mobile that was really fun to make and illustrate, but very hard to photograph with all those characters swinging around all over the place!

Tin Pot Project
My latest DIY project for Small Magazine is up on their blog, here's a picture of the result and you can see the steps to get there here... (they also recently had a new issue out which is very lovely to flick through).
The tins are covered with wrapping paper, and the yellow design is by a folk-art designer whose work I really love - Sanna Annukka.
