Summer Sale

Seeing as all the shops are having crazy summer sales, I thought I would do the same. So, for the rest of July there's 25% off everything in my Etsy shop. If you've had your eye on any of my dolls, bears or ltd edition prints, now's the time to buy!  Also, I'm planning to stock up with some new items next month, so watch this space...

I'm getting some limited editions prints made up this week, which will be in my Etsy shop (and possibly on Big Cartel too as a tester) in about a week's time. They're A4, the same design in two colourways, printed on really good quality 310gsm paper, and there will be a run of just 15 of each. Here are the designs, if anyone would like to pre-order one please feel free to email me (see address to the right). Just in time for Valentine's!

Flatties

Not shoes as the title suggests, but a new group of characters that I'm calling Flatties because they've come to life from drawings. I've just put four of these in my Etsy shop, and I'm selling them with a little original painting of each one - their own portrait!

Papernstitch

Today I'm the featured shop on Papernstitch, an online curated exhibition/market that I've been taking part in for the last couple of weeks. The website and blog are great reads, very inspiring, and I'm thrilled to have my things on there (with links to Etsy where you can buy), amongst lots of lovely artists and makers.

Fields of Joy

A little while ago one of my sisters phoned me up to ask my opinion on some paintings she'd seen on Etsy by US based artist Karen Fields. She couldn't decide which of three to buy, and while we both ummed and ahhed over their respective merits, I somehow convinced myself that I should buy whichever she turned down. So we both made a purchase, and are very happy with the paintings, mine in my bedroom (see below) and hers in her sitting room. They're so bright, with gorgeous colours and sunny dispositions, and were extremely reasonable price wise.

I've just revisited Karen's Etsy page and seen some lovely recent work (all sold), so will keep an eye out for any shop updates from now on.

Dolly Mixture

I've finally finished off a series of nine dolls that I've been working on for quite a while, in fits and starts. I've put three of them on Etsy, joining my bears and paper dolls, and am glad to have a bit of a collection on there now. The dolls are called Isabel, Penelope and Coco, and are three sisters with very different personalities and looks.

When I was thinking about making these dolls, and doing a bit of preliminary doodling, I drew this picture of a doll on a bookshelf with Penguin books (seem to have something of a preoccupation with these), and I found the drawing a couple of days ago and thought I'd set up the picture in real life seeing as I had everything to hand...

Buy Beeb

Having set up an Etsy page last year, stocked with some of my bears and a few paintings, then having sold the bears in real life rather than virtually, I've had a bit of a hiatus. But I've just restocked with 3 bears and 4 paper dolls, which are new little papier maché characters I'm trying out. Having a digital camera of my own makes all that so much easier - like posting on here - so I'm now dedicated to making some sales and keeping the shop going!! We'll see how it goes...

Stocked Up

It's been nearly a year since I signed up for a shop on online emporium Etsy. Well, I've finally got my act together and stocked my shop, with eight of my beeb toys, and three in a new series of paintings that I've been working on. This is a very exciting day! Now I just need to get the word out to get some some people through the virtual door of aforementioned shop, and fingers crossed make some sales.... watch this space!!

I've also just added a link on the side of the blog that shows thumbnails of the items in my shop, and takes you straight there.

New Beebs

A few weeks ago I made a brand spanking new, updated, version 2.0 "beeb" soft toy (for my sister's Baby Shower). I was really happy with it, so made a pattern, and decided to make this collection of eight, which I've just finished.

I'm planning to put them on my etsy site, which I've had for an absolute age but haven't got round to making enough things to list and sell on there.

All I need to do is take some good photos of each of these toys and pop them in my very own internet shop. I've been spending some time on a currency converter website trying to figure out how many dollars to charge for them (as etsy is international but based in the US, so all transactions are done in $).

Ooh, perhaps once I've made my fortune in dollars I'll have the perfect excuse to go on a long weekend shopping trip in New York. Better get snapping (and sewing for that matter)!!

Alicia Bock

I've just taken delivery of a gorgeous photographic print from Alicia Bock, bought from her Etsy store. It took quite a while to decide which to go for, having narrowed it down to the "Through the Viewfinder" series, which have such a great old-fashioned look to them. Finally I bit the bullet and went for this one, and it arrived so quickly and so well wrapped with a hand written note and a smaller print included, that now I'm just wondering when - and for whom - I can buy my next one! (I'm not sure what type of flowers these are, but I'm always drawn to them.)
