There Is No Path...

Last week I had a papercut commission from a lovely lady I met earlier in the year on my yoga holiday on Silver Island. This is one of her favourite quotes...

Made In London

My latest papercut commission was this giraffe and elephant for a little baby boy (his heritage is cheekily explained in the speech bubbles!)

At Last

My latest papercut - this one with the lyrics from Etta James' At Last - was for a first wedding anniversary. Apparently the jury's still out on whether the first year is paper or cotton though...

Tip Top

Months ago I bought a bargain 50x70cm Habitat frame from the local tip for the princely sum of £4. Of course I was thrilled with it, but ever since it has been propped up in my small bedroom, getting in the way. I've been umming and ahhing over what to put in it until this week when I finally decided what it needed. Here's the result - a new chandelier paper cut design. There's gold leaf on the candle flames although this photo doesn't show that very well. Finally, up on the wall where it belongs!

Girls

I had a couple of commissions just before Christmas for papercuts - one for a 30th birthday, one for a 1st birthday... apparently girls of any age appreciate a bit of pink, orange and gold!

Birthday Season

My friends have started turning thirty this year... eeekk! Gold leaf seems only right for such an important occasion...

Baby Bird

This papercut was commissioned to celebrate a new baby - and has just winged its way to Australia where the eponymous Minnie lives! It's the first time I've used gold leaf on this kind of papercut, and I like the way it turned out, always nice to add a bit of glitz!

Final(ly) Cut

This has been a long time coming... but I've finally stocked my online shop with my latest papercuts - the tile ones (see below), and these wordy ones. A couple of the quotes are from Einstein (which surprised me when I found them - I'd always assumed Einstein quotes would be sciency and unintelligible, but it turns out many of them are just lovely).

Papercut preview

As mentioned in my last post, I've been working on some new tile-inspired papercuts. Here is my first batch, which will be on sale in my shop soon...

Christmas Tile

In the spirit of thriftiness, I made all my Christmas presents this year. Here's one - a tile-inspired papercut with gold leaf 'grout' for my sister Daisy. I'm planning on doing more of these to sell in my online shop early in the new year...

You Make It Real

Another wedding present papercut to share, this one has lyrics from the James Morrison song You Make It Real - super romantic!!

I Have Never...

It seems to be papercut city around here at the moment... here's a recent one for commissioned as a wedding present, quoting a poem by E. E. Cummings that was read during the ceremony. Doing these papercuts is giving me an education in romantic quotes and lyrics!

Cut!

A couple of papercut commissions from the past week - a wedding heart and a new christening design that I was really pleased with...

I Love You Because...

This is a papercut I've just finished - some lyrics from the lovely and romantic Leon Payne song "I Love You Because", commissioned as a wedding present...

One Kiss...

My latest papercut, commissioned as a first anniversary present from a wife to her husband...
